Women are an integral part of the society and they need to be empowered. Team Parvaah identifies the strengths of underprivileged women and involves them in work matching their inner talent. Parvaah`s key undertaking is in the outskirts of New Delhi, where it has adopted women labourers, who have been rendered jobless. They possess an innate ability of crafting exquisite handicrafts. But in spite of their beautiful work, the women are unable to expand their production and revenue. This is due to the lack of resources, market exposure as well as an insight into the art of design. Parvaah has been continuously involving these women in creating eye-catching tablecloths, towels, dining table mats, napkins, bed linens etc. which are then sold in different exhibitions held across different cities of India. By providing them with raw materials and a platform to sell their products, we have helped them earn a livelihood and also keep the art and culture of their region alive. Every two weeks, a volunteer goes to these villages to help the women in designing the merchandise. A part of the revenue earned from the sale of the goods is used to pay wages to them and the rest is reinvested to buy a new set of raw materials. This cyclic process promotes sustainable economic development of village women.
Further, Parvaah has started a new initiative in January 2017 and under this programme, needy women are learning to make healthy, hygienic, home-made foods which are served/sold to employees at various offices in Delhi.
