We are extremely delighted to inform you that on 3rd September, a bright and sunny Saturday, Parvaah`s Project Boond was inaugurated at the JPIS campus in Mahapura, Rajasthan.
Project Boond addresses an issue that housewives in remote villages in Rajasthan face on a daily basis. These women have to walk long distances every day to fetch water for their families and carrying the heavy pots of water on their heads in the journeys is disastrous for their health in the long run. Therefore, to solve this problem and help the women, the Parvaah team, which is mostly comprised of JPIS students, has joined hands with Nilkamal Limited to supply Wello Water Wheels to 500 families in rural Rajasthan over the next three months. These wheels, with each having a capacity of carrying 50 litres in one trip and easy to push or pull, are a hassle-free alternative to the tedious and burdensome task of carrying water in pots and also do not exert any strain on the body. Apart from not adversely affecting the women`s health they also cut down on their travel time and increase the quantity of water collected in each journey.
The launch event started at 11 in the gracious presences of Dr Ruma Devi Ji-recipient of multiple awards along with Nari Shakti Puraskar, Shri Dheeraj Srivastava- Commissioner, Rajasthan Foundation, Mrs Benu Malhotra, Trustee, Parvaah and Dr Jayshree Periwal, Chairperson, JPIS.
As the event progressed, people from nearby villages as well as JPIS students started assembling on the ground in large numbers. Chief guests Dr Ruma Devi Ji and Shri Dheeraj Srivastava ji handed over 100 Wello Water Wheels to families from Nevata and Mahapura vilages in the presence of over 500 attendees which included the sarpanches of both villages. The cheers from the audience, especially the students, echoed in the air.
