Mother And Child Care- Lal Bagh Slum Mansarovar Park Metro Station
20th May 2025

Parvaah launched a dedicated Mother and Child Care Initiative in the underserved Lal Bagh slum area near Mansarovar Park Metro Station. The drive focused on maternal health, safe childbirth practices, and early childhood care.

During an earlier school kit distribution in the same area, Parvaah’s team learned from Anganwadi and ASHA workers that many women still opted for home deliveries, resulting in higher risks for mothers and infants. This insight led to a focused intervention aimed at mothers with children aged 0 to 5 years.

 Awareness and Health Education

With the help of local health workers, 100 women were identified and invited to attend health awareness sessions where they were educated about:

  • The risks of home deliveries

  • The benefits of institutional deliveries

  • Postnatal nutrition and recovery

These sessions aimed to equip mothers with the knowledge and confidence to make safer health decisions for themselves and their children.

 Child Engagement Zone

To make the initiative family-friendly, Parvaah’s college volunteers organized creative activities for children while their mothers participated in the awareness sessions. Activities included:

  • Drawing sessions

  • Greeting card-making

  • Interactive storytelling

 Maternal Nutrition Kit Distribution

Following expert consultation, Parvaah provided 100 customized nutrition kits to the mothers, each containing:

  • Sabudana

  • Sukha Chana

  • Sattu

  • Moong Dal

  • Daliya

These items were selected for their rich nutritional value, supporting post-pregnancy recovery and long-term maternal health.

The Mother and Child Care Initiative successfully blended awareness, engagement, and direct aid—empowering mothers with the knowledge and resources for safer childbirth and healthier recovery. As part of Project Sahayata, this initiative reaffirms Parvaah’s commitment to promoting dignity, health, and opportunity for underserved communities.
